1 Camp Dates

The dates for the u\m camps will be held as follows:

2 Examinations Camp

This camp will take place from Fri 16 Jul until Sun 18 Jul at Paragon Base.  These examinations will be in the disciplines of Drill and Map and Compass.  Camp will be dedicated to practical training  Therefore, all Star 1 – 3 cadets are to be encouraged to attend the Examinations Camp.

3 Overseas visits

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Master cadets to visit and camp in the United Kingdom and Canada respectively.  This is a very expensive undertaking. The Barbados Cadet Corps will pay the greater portion of the expenses. Each secondary school has been requested to make a contribution of $XXXXXX towards this venture.  Cadets are required to pay XXXXXX.  If a cadet attends a tertiary institution, then the responsibility is with that cadet to acquire his/her own funding.  Cadet Headquarters will conduct interviews from the names recommended by OCs in order to publish a final list of master cadets who will attend these visits.

4 Submission of Pay Claims – Excuse

Officers are reminded that Pay Claims must be submitted on a monthly basis between the end of the respective month and the fifth day of the following month.  Late submissions must be accompanied by a letter of excuse addressed to the Commandant in order to facilitate processing.  Cadet Headquarters will not be responsible for any Pay Claim that is not signed by the Zone Commander or the Principal.

5 Camp Cell Leaders

All Training Cell leaders are to meet with the Commandant on Wed 12 May 10 at 1730 hrs in the Col. Cooper Room, BCC HQ. There are to present a 5 – 10 minute progress report. Zone Commanders and Cadet HQ Training officers are invited to attend. Cell leaders may bring supporting staff. The Cell Leaders are as follows:

Major P Powlett        -     Junior Cadet Programme

Capt E Brathwaite     -      Star 3 and 4, Master Cadets, NCO Training

Lt Michael Boyce     -    Star 1 and 2 Training

Lt Erma Holder         -     Medical Unit

Slt Robert Morris      -    Sea Cadet Unit

Lt Philip Eno             -    Cadet Band

2Lt Donovan Smith   -  Shooting programme

6 Camp Planning Groups

All cell leaders and members of each cell are to make presentations to the Commandant with regards to the plans and execution of activities for each cell on Thu 20 May at 1730 hrs at BCC, HQ.  A laptop and a projector will be made available.

7 Website www.cadetcorps.bb

The Barbados Cadet Corps’ website is functioning again.  Officers and NCOs should also visit www.barbadoscadetcorpsncos.org.  Officers are requested to inform NCOs and cadets about both these websites.

10 Unit Bands

Officers Commanding Unit Bands are to register the names of the cadets and the inventory of instruments in the particular Unit with the OC, Band – BCC HQ.  This information must be sent to BCC HQ by 17 May 10.

11 Formation of Unit Drum Corps and Bands

With immediate effect, all persons wishing to form Unit Bands and Drum Corps must first receive permission from the Commandant.

12 Confidential Reports

Zone Commanders and other supervisors of officers are advised that Confidential Reports for the period 1 Apr – 31 Mar 10 are overdue.  This is an important aspect of an officer’s development and hence any Zone Commander who has not yet forwarded such reports should do immediately. Reports for Zone Commanders are available. Zone Commanders are to schedule interviews with the Commandant through the Adjutant, Major Clarke.
